The practice presented the Belfast Transport Hub (BTH) project in a public consultation forum this week. BTH is key to the regeneration of Belfast. The practice has designed a fully integrated transport hub which will replace the existing bus and railway stations on a ten hectare site at the edge of the city centre. Due to the success of public transport in Northern Ireland over the past few decades, the current bus and rail stations have reached capacity. In addition, further growth is predicted of 50% by 2040, prompting the need to provide a new facility.
Our proposals include 26 bus stands and eight rail platforms. The 10 ha site will also provide approximately 135,000sqm of mixed use accommodation.
