This design provides Blackpool and the Fylde College with a new student hub, a refurbished theatre, and a suite of renewed teaching buildings. This campus-wide project, which includes landscaping, represents the first phase of a wider development plan for the college’s central campus in Blackpool.
The new Student Hub provides a combined learning resource centre, refectory, and student services facility in a contemporary and environmentally responsible building which fronts a newly created civic space.
The new Hub and refurbishment scheme is designed to rationalise circulation, reinvigorate existing accommodation, and form a new, landscaped heart for the campus. The landscaping is designed to provide an animated focal square, that deals with level changes while improving movement across the campus.
