This detailed design for the urban realm in the vicinity of the proposed new Crossrail station entrances at Bond Street Station, in the City of Westminster; includes the area around Davies Street and Hanover Square.
The design will be used to ensure that the new station operates effectively, and that the experience of using Crossrail is a positive one. The design of the urban realm focuses on the consideration that the station interfaces appropriately with the station entrance, station building envelope, OSD, and its immediate surroundings in accordance with the aspirations of both CRL, the local authority, and other stakeholders.
The urban design study takes into account and develops the following factors:
- The heritage and character of the area and materials, given the proximity to Mayfair and other conservation areas
- Minimisation of pedestrian-vehicular conflicts (including identifying appropriate traffic management measures) due to large number of pedestrian accessing and the station entrances
- Enhancement of connectivity, wayfinding and orientation to main arteries such as Regent Street, Oxford Street and the Bond street area
- Attention to local residents priorities, such as parking (re-)provision and consultation
- Security considerations
