Wellington House

JMP has developed a major project for Land Securities, which will deliver a new 10-storey high quality residential building in an important location at the junction of Queen’s Gate and Petty France, London.
An existing building has been demolished to give way to what will be a high-value private residential apartment block with retail on part of the ground floor. Design development has addressed the fact that the triangular site is faced on its two long sides by conservation areas, and very careful thought has been given to the building’s façade.
Surrounded by buildings of various scales, typologies, and historic architectural styles, JMP has worked with artist Georgia Russell to develop a surface treatment that brings a distinctive new character and architectural focal-point to the area.
Wellington House is essentially freestanding, apart from a single storey car-lift link to the building behind it, and will consist of approximately 62 private apartments including three penthouses on the top floor. There will be a single retail unit, covering a third of the ground floor, positioned at the point of the building.
The scheme is currently under construction and completion is due in July 2012.
