Welcome to the first issue of JMP's online magazine : The Initiatives Issue

Alongside the practice’s work in commercial, education and urban design sectors, JMP has always engaged in community projects. This pro bono and not-for-profit work has now been formalised with the setting up of the JMP Initiatives Unit. JMP sets aside a percentage of profits for these projects, and everyone donates time to them. We apply the learnings from our day-to-day work to providing world-class design for those who need it most and can afford it least.

This edition of JMP’s online journal is edited by Alison Stawarz. It looks at some of the issues, the projects, and the people behind them. From Haiti, to Malawi, via East London, these are some of the projects JMP has been involved with recently.

“We seek out and support initiatives that make a direct difference to people’s lives. This is achieved through collective participation in a wide range of social, education , environmental, arts and sports projects which focus the creative skills of young people. These projects vary in scale, but are always big on ambition. They tackle challenges that reflect key global imperatives, and help to energise lives at a local level. In every case we aim to achieve sustainable, life-improving results.”
