Penn Station, New York City

NY, USA. 2028

John McAslan + Partners has been appointed as collaborating architect to work alongside a New York based JV between WSP and FXC on the Preliminary Design of the Penn Reconstruction, the transformation of New York's Penn Station.

Penn Station is the Western Hemisphere's busiest transit hub. Located beneath Madison Square Garden in midtown Manhattan, the existing station has reached the end of its design life. It is cramped and presents a poor experience for commuters and visitors alike.

The Penn Reconstruction will transform Penn into a first-class transit hub that is customer focussed, reconfiguring the concourse into a single level facility and creating a dramatic new trainhall which will be flooded with daylight and supported by enhanced amenities, new retail and improved accessibility.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul says:
"The transformation of Penn cannot come soon enough, and we look forward to building a world-class station that puts New Yorkers first, delivers a rider-focused transit experience, and a great neighborhood they deserve."
