John McAslan + Partners was proud to join Laing O’Rourke and the wider project team in celebrating the launch of All Aboard – Discovering Sydney’s Central Station, a beautifully illustrated children’s book that brings to life the 116-year history of one of Australia’s most iconic transport hubs.
Written by beloved Australian author Jackie French and illustrated by Martina Heiduczek, the book was inspired by the many stories and experiences shared during the delivery of the Sydney Central Station Metro project – a once-in-a-generation transformation of Australia's busiest commuter interchange.
The launch event, hosted at Central Station, welcomed over 100 guests, including many who worked on the project. Despite record-breaking rainfall, the enthusiasm and turnout reflected the deep sense of pride and community surrounding the station’s legacy.
A standout moment from the evening was the generous gesture from Laing O’Rourke, who are gifting copies of the book to every construction worker who contributed to the project – recognising the people who helped make this complex and historic achievement possible.
Proceeds from book sales are being donated to the Women and Girls Emergency Centre (WAGEC), adding another layer of purpose to the publication and its message.
As Troy Uleman, Director at John McAslan + Partners, reflected:
“This book is a testament not only to the scale and significance of the transformation at Central Station, but also to the many individuals who shaped it – from past to present. It’s a legacy piece that connects people, place, and purpose.”
We look forward to sharing official event photos soon. In the meantime, our thanks go to everyone who made this special project – and its celebration – possible.
