We were honoured to have attended the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Msheireb Museums in Doha, marking a decade since the completion of one of our most meaningful heritage-led projects. John McAslan and Fanos Panayides were delighted to participate in a thought-provoking panel discussion and join esteemed guests at the gala evening, held at the historic Bin Jelmood House.
Completed in 2015, our work with Msheireb Properties on the transformation of four traditional Qatari courtyard houses – Bin Jelmood House, Company House, Mohammed Bin Jassim House, and Radwani House – remains a cornerstone of our practice’s approach to cultural regeneration. The project combined meticulous restoration, sensitive remodelling, and sustainable design, creating a set of museums that honour Qatar’s rich heritage while setting new benchmarks for contemporary museum design in the region.
Over the past ten years, Msheireb Museums has welcomed more than 600,000 visitors, engaged over 200,000 students, and become a vital platform for storytelling, education, and community dialogue. The anniversary conference brought together regional and international architects, cultural leaders, and preservation experts to reflect on the past decade of architectural innovation and cultural transformation in Qatar.
John McAslan joined Fanos Panayides and Fatima Mohamed Fawzi on the panel ‘Truth in Translation – Weaving Heritage into the Modern Fabric’, exploring the role of heritage architecture in contemporary storytelling and identity-making.
Two significant publications were also launched during the event – Msheireb Museums: Transforming Doha's Heritage Houses and Building on Tradition: The New Architectural Language of Qatar – capturing the legacy of the Museums and the wider vision for sustainable, culturally rooted urbanism.
We extend our warm congratulations to Msheireb Museums on this milestone and are proud to have contributed to a project that continues to inspire future generations and connect Qatar’s past with its evolving urban future.
