John McAslan + Partners is pleased to announce another exceptional year of creative and commercial success, with gross turnover rising to £21 mn and pre-tax profits of £4 mn for the year ending 31 October 2024. This continued momentum reflects the studio’s dynamic evolution and the successful implementation of its succession plan, which has expanded ownership to key team members across the practice.
John McAslan + Partners’ international presence continues to thrive, with its studios in London, Edinburgh, Sydney, and New York.
Recent completions include the ecological masterplan and landscape design for Sloane Street in London, the British Museum’s Archaeological Research Centre at the University of Reading, and Belfast Grand Central Station that integrates train and bus travel creating a new era for Northern Ireland’s public transport. In Australia, the practice has delivered Sydney Central Station – a critical part of the country’s largest-ever public transport initiative. John McAslan + Partners also completed a new metro station in Waterloo that not only links this fast-growing Sydney suburb to the city centre, but creates a focal point for regeneration to the formerly industrial now predominantly residential area.
Ongoing projects span a wide geographic and typological range, including a transformative urban realm design for George Square in Glasgow, the Passivhaus-led Saïd Business School in Oxford
(due for completion later this year), an on-site World Bank–supported dental university in Malawi and a major cultural facility located opposite the UNESCO-listed At-Turaif site in Riyadh.
In early Autumn John McAslan + Partners will launch a dedicated studio in Riyadh in response to growing regional demand and a deepening commitment to cultural collaboration. This will serve as a space for experimentation, design dialogue, and mentorship as an interdisciplinary platform for architects and designers fostering creative exchange and nurturing
local talent.
Chair John McAslan comments:
“I’m thrilled that our collective ownership model is delivering such remarkable outcomes – both creatively and commercially. This first year has laid an exciting foundation for the next generation of our practice, grounded in a shared design ethos and a deep sense of social purpose.”
Professor Sir Steve Smith, UK Government International Education Champion says:
“I am delighted that John McAslan & Partners will be deepening their partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by opening a ‘creative hub’ in Riyadh. The UK Government is committed to supporting partnerships in education and culture between our two Kingdoms – as UK Government Special Representative to Saudi Arabia for Education, I am thrilled that the new studio will bring new educational opportunities for emerging Saudi designers, fostering creative collaboration and cultural exchange across a wide range of projects, building types and place-making initiatives. I look forward to seeing the studio flourish as a base for creative dialogue, lectures, training and educational initiatives, aligning the ambitions of the UK’s Modern Industrial Strategy with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by developing the skills vital for the economies of tomorrow.”
Fanos Panayides, Managing Partner, John McAslan + Partners adds:
“As we conclude the 2025 financial year, we’re excited to build on this momentum with the launch of our proposed Riyadh studio and a strong pipeline of commissions in the UK and globally. This continued growth enhances our resilience in a challenging global economy and enables us to expand our long-standing commitment to social and educational initiatives.”
