We are delighted to announce that Waterloo Station in Sydney, designed by John McAslan + Partners in collaboration with our project partners, has been awarded an Honourable Mention at this year’s Chicago Athenaeum International Architecture Awards.
The station, a key component of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project, represents a major new civic gateway for the rapidly growing Waterloo precinct. Our design prioritises light, clarity, and ease of movement, creating a generous, welcoming environment for passengers while integrating the station seamlessly into its urban setting.
This recognition from the Chicago Athenaeum celebrates not only the architectural quality of the project, but also the collaborative effort of Transport for NSW, Sydney Metro, our engineering and design partners, and the local community.
Waterloo Station opened to the public in 2024 and is already transforming the way people connect across Sydney, providing a vital piece of transport infrastructure that will serve the city for generations to come.
We are proud to see our work acknowledged on an international stage and extend our thanks to the Chicago Athenaeum for this honour, and to everyone who contributed to making Waterloo Station a reality.
