Sophie joined John McAslan + Partners in 2022 and is an Associate based in the Edinburgh studio. She has over eight years of professional experience across public-sector and private practice environments, with a particular interest in cultural and civic buildings. Her rigorous approach combines contextual design thinking with a deep understanding of individual client requirements, formulating a considered response to both brief and place.

Sophie has significant expertise in leading complex cultural and educational projects with large international design teams, notably the MBS Global Center for Arabic Calligraphy in Riyadh. Her current projects include the Malawi Dental School and Integrated Teaching Facility in Blantyre, and the Art Works collections storage facility for the National Galleries of Scotland. Prior to joining JMP, Sophie worked extensively on hotel and retail projects across the UK, with a strong focus on interior design.
